General Information
Institution Name:
Center for Enabling New Technologies Through Catalysis (CENTC)
Program Information:

CENTC is a NSF-funded Center for Chemical Innovation and includes 18 investigators from 13 research institutions in the US and Canada.  The Center uses catalysis to address high impact problems, such as development of renewable fuels, synthesis of chemicals from biomass and increasing efficiency of chemical processes.  During this 10-week in-residence summer research program, undergraduates will participate in this collaborative research center at  their choice of 17 different research labs at 12 different institutions in the US and Canada. Students meet weekly via teleconference for professional development activities and research presentations.  Participants receive a $5,000 stipend plus funding towards travel and housing for the summer.  Learn about the chemistry enterprise, get a first-hand view of the life of a graduate student, get hands-on experience in the lab.  All participants are invited to participate in a small scientific conference for the entire center (Center for Enabling New Technologies Through Catalysis, CENTC), an excellent networking opportunity.  For questions contact Eve Perara at centcdeo@chem.washington.edu.  Dates are June 13 - August 19, 2011.  Application due February 14, 2011.

Research sites at:  University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, University of Wisconsin - Madison, Rutgers University, University of Ottawa, University of Rochester, University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, Univeristy of North Texas, University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign, University of Washington, University of California - Santa Barbara, North Carolina State University and Los Alamos National Lab.
